Hi! My name is Gerard Sukhram. I’m a graduate student at the University of South Florida studying Education. I’m hoping to become a high school Language Arts teacher and, eventually, a professor. I started this blog to practice daily writing prompts to keep my thoughts fresh for when I’m teaching students. However, I want to use this as a workspace and timeline for my thoughts and ideas as well. I’ll also be posting my views on various technological tools and educational tips to have a portfolio for myself when I need to draw on resources for the future.
Most of what I post will be preliminary thoughts or ideas, and almost none of it will be finished work. I hope some of the things I’m doing inspire you to make some creations of your own. 🙂
If you want to do any of the prompts with me, here are the rules I’m following:
- No editing. That means none. Not even in your head. Don’t think about what you are writing, rework it, rework it again, and then write it on the page. Write what comes as soon as it comes. They can be reworked later.
- Don’t stop until you feel like you’ve come to a definite stopping point. Just keep going.
- Try to complete the prompts in a distraction-free environment.
- Have fun. If you aren’t, try one more time. If you still aren’t, try a different prompt, or pack up for the day and hit it again tomorrow.
